Comment: Tom Pizey in blue bibs (left) and Tineke Van Der Walle in pink cord bibs (right). I saw this series (5 long films or 20 episodes à 25 min) in the 90s and today one episode since then on TV. Pic right is from “The Secret of Spiggy Holes” (no scenes with Mike in bibs). The kids changed a lot their clothes even in one episode and I saw only few bib scenes but have to check all episodes which are being aired these days. This is probably not the best Blyton series and not so famous as the Famous Five of the 70s, but at least with bibs. I like here mainly the blond Jack (Daniel James) with his bowl cut (left pic, middle). Good adventure and kids’ series. For bib scenes only 5 for now. There is a 11 min. official trailer of all episodes on YouTube from Cloud Nine but with bad image quality and a German trailer which can’t be embedded. Also complete German episodes “Die verwegenen Vier” on another video site.

Mike in some episodes completely without bibs (except for intro). Bibs at least in first epsiode. Bibs are standard blue (darker than appear on pic) and legs cuffed up. Often wearing a jacket over bibs.

Update: I now saw that bibs of Mike are extremely baggy (pic below) in ep. 1/5 (4/20) The Secret Island. Medium bib scenes in this episode as he is not always shown. I usually don’t like baggy bibs but they look good at this character. I will continue watching this series. Now rating 7 instead of 5.

Update 2: Laura in white shortalls (also baggy) in ep 9 / film 3 The Secret of Killimoin (part 1). For pic see info 74. More pics of Mike in the 2015 update

Some girls in other Blyton series

I have read one book where this series is based on. It’s written and set in the 1950s. Unfortunately no mentionings nor illustrations of bibs scenes. At least not in my part and edition.
